An illustration agent has always been something i thought id need but always felt that you got stuff like that after years of being solo and only if you get really sucessful, but apparantly im wrong about that and there are all kinds of different agencies out there and all you have to do is send them a examples of work, hooray! of course its not going to be that simple.

Iphone Portfolio
Loads of the little jobs ive come by are from talking to normal people, ok i may not be able to retire on these jobs but for the present they are vital for building a portfolio of commercial work as well as some much needed experience working as a freelance designer which from day one was the true aim of coming back to university. That been said, i felt i could us a small portfolio that i could keep on me at all times to show to people there and then. The Iphone is only device really suitable for the job with its zoom features and large screen, but most of all because you take it everywhere with you.

I have only had i few freelance jobs and from those jobs i learnt two things
1) Dont work for ozzy's when England have just won the ashes
2) pricing a job, is the most delicate part of the job.
I sorely undercut myself which sounds painful, and was and I had no come back. this guide helped along with virble kung fu for free lances.

Press Gang!
This is going to take some explaining but stick with it. The woman (Jo) holding the baby is a good friend of mine who is the Parent Communication officer for Cathedral school in wakefield, I have been invited to come and teach a workshop about graphic design to a group of fourteen year olds who are setting up a school paper. After a few meeting to set up and plan the session, myself, Jo And her partner Toby (the guy in the hat), realised that this was a good idea to roll out across a number of schools setting up school news papers run by the children and taught via a series of monthly workshops by myself (graphics and illustration), Toby (photography) and Joanna (english and journalism).
Best of all such an enterprise covers the criteria the arts council want to gain lottery funding. we are having the first session at the Cathedral School in Wakefield, and all been well will be applying for funding before september to expand into other schools.
Dark Horse
Dark Horse Comics hold some really big names and bestof all they are alot more open to different styles of illustration, not the strict super hero comic styles of marvel and DC (im not saying that marvel and dc dont dabble in these style once in a while but its not what the fans expect). Any how they have "try out" Pages for artist to complete to fine new talent, ive sent off a couple about a week ago but had no responce yet.
Marvel Pipe Dream
Dream Job
Its not as funny as it used to be, but id still like to work for viz, I have loved the mag since before i was to young to read it, with proberly explains my shit sense of humour. Found it hard to get in touch with the offices at viz, but ive sent some e-mails and hope to pester them some more even if its just for a meeting.
